Resources for State Funded Residents

 
Medicaid Assistive Care Services This is a Medicaid State Plan Service that will reimburse care at a rate of $9.28/day for each day the resident is in the facility and receives ACS services.
Eligibility for Medicaid in a State Licensed ALF is $795/month in total income Medicaid Assistive Care Services can contribute up to $287/month to the monthly cost of care. This program is managed by the Agency for Health Care Administration. The facility is an enrolled Medicaid Provider and will submit a claim for payment for each day a medicaid eligible resident is in the facility and receives ACS services. The facility cannot bill for ACS services when a resident is on pass, in the hospital or absent from the facility.
 
Optional State Supplementation The Optional State Supplementation Program (OSS) Program will provide $54/month in Personal Needs Allowance and $20/month towards cost of room and board
Eligibility for OSS benefits is you must have income of $752.40/month or less The Optional State Supplementation Program is critical because it provides the personal needs allowance for the resident each month. This program is managed by the Department of Children and Families. The case manager will assist each resident in completing the application for this program.
 
Social Security Income Often residents will use their social security income to pay for their cost of care at the facility. The use of a payee representative is recommended. Lutheran Social Services is a state funded payee rep program available at no charge to the residents.
SSI income is a monthly payment of $694/month and is to be used for room and board in the month it is issued. The staff at DSV will work with case management to help ensure that each resident is receiving the full amount of SSI that they are entitled to receive. We will work to ensure that recoupment actions being taken by SSA are reduced to the minimum. The staff will also assist in completing applications for SSI for new applications in cases that qualify for financial assistance.
 
Social Security Disability Insurance For residents who have worked over 40 quarters in a life time, it is possible they will qualify for a higher cash payment through SSDI.
SSDI payments are generally above the SSI payment level. In some instances people can receive a combination of SSI and SSDI The staff at DSV will work to help ensure that each resident is receiving the optiminal level of social security benefits. The staff will also start application for assistance with Medicare Part B insurance through the qualified medicare beneficiary QMB Program.
